Jean Sitterle, Chair of the Museum Committee, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas have just announced the final placement of winners in the statewide DRT Museum Art Contest for 2014 in District VIII for all students in grades 6-8. All winners received certificates, and Ms. Camille Carrithers received a certificate of Special Recognition in appreciation from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas recognizing her efforts of educational support in the contest by encouraging students to create posters denoting a historical site, event or activity that occurred or an individual of noted significance in District VIII prior to 1850. Student artwork will be featured in notecards that are on sale in the museum.
First Place- $50 - Rylee Myers – “Sunday House” and Katie Bowden- “Mr. Meusebach”
Second Place- $30 each -
Lauren Mach “If Only the Walls Could Talk” (The Vereins Kirche Building) and
Alex Escobedo “Chief Village”
Third Place: $20 - Marissa Molina “Wagon Travels” and Makenzie Lopez “Fisher-Miller Land Grant”
Honorable Mention- $15: Jonathan Parisher- “Meusebach Treaty”
